So this is me weaving a winter  rosepath scarf. I am always uncomfortable in front of a camera but I feel at peace with string in my hands. Maybe you can see in the picture that in this moment I have found my zen.
I am a middle-aged mother of three beautiful grown-up sons, a dedicated born-again spinster, and I have a serious string addiction. I teach thread and yarn crafts, particularly crochet, hand-embroidery, weaving, hand-spinning, and kumihimo. I also teach basic sewing skills, darning, mending, and how to embellish and upcycle clothing to anyone who shows the slightest interest. 😉
Make Do And Mend!
I live in Winnipeg which is in Canada, due north of North Dakota, and I love it here. I love the cold, the isolation, and the uncanny flatness of the prairies. I love feeling dwarfed by the endless vault of the prairie sky. Winnipeg makes for intense close friendships, a certain hardiness and self-sufficiency, and a settled peaceful pace of life. It also helps a lot if you enjoy extreme weather, as we have a lot of it!
If you are in Winnipeg and would like to learn crochet, embroidery, weaving, hand-spinning or kumihimo, I would love to teach you the traditional way, in my Wolsley home studio over a nice cup of tea. 🙂
As a left-handed needleworker with 20+ years working with kids I especially enjoy teaching children and lefties. I am very experienced in and comfortable with teaching people of all ages who have non-typical learning styles and needs.
Moms and kids and small groups are very welcome. As I teach in my home I prefer women and children as students.
With all of my love,
Baba StringThings (aka Renata from Winnipeg)
